净身神咒
Mantra of Purifying the Body
One of the Eight Great Taoist Divine Mantras

✦ Sacred Text · Chinese & English ✦

灵宝天尊,安慰身形。
弟子魂魄,五脏玄冥。
青龙白虎,队仗纷纭。
朱雀玄武,侍卫我真。
急急如律令。
The Heavenly Worthy of Numinous Treasure
soothes and comforts the physical form.
The disciple's Hun and Po,
the Five Organs in mysterious stillness —
the Azure Dragon and White Tiger
line up in splendid formation,
the Vermilion Bird and Black Warrior
stand guard over my true self.
Swiftly, as the law commands!

✧ Spiritual Purpose ✧

The Mantra of Purifying the Body is recited to cleanse the physical form of accumulated turbid energies (浊气) and to invoke the protection of the Four Celestial Animals — Azure Dragon (East), White Tiger (West), Vermilion Bird (South), and Black Warrior/Tortoise (North). These divine guardians form a protective formation around the practitioner, shielding both body and spirit from external interference. This mantra also harmonizes the energies of the Five Organs (五脏) and stabilizes the Hun (ethereal soul) and Po (corporeal soul). It transforms the practitioner's body into a sacred vessel fit for communion with the divine.
