英文翻译English Translation

The Primordial Beginning pacifies and secures,
proclaiming widely to all spirits.
The true officers of mountains and waters,
the spirits of the land and soil —
the altar of Earth on the left, the altar of Grain on the right,
you shall not cause reckless alarm.
Return to the righteous Way;
within and without, all becomes clear and pure.
Each spirit rests in its proper direction,
standing guard over the ritual court.
The Supreme Lord commands:
search out and capture all evil spirits.
Divine Kings who protect the Dharma,
safeguard those who chant the scriptures.
Take refuge in the Great Way —
primordial, prosperous, beneficial, and steadfast.
Swiftly, as the law commands!

修行要义Spiritual Purpose

The Mantra of Appeasing the Earth Spirit is recited to notify and pacify all local spirits, land deities (土地公), and nature spirits before a ritual begins. In Taoist practice, the ritual altar exists within a landscape populated by countless spiritual beings. This mantra formally announces the ceremony, asks all spirits to remain calm and not interfere, commands evil entities to be captured, and establishes a protected sacred space. It is closely connected to Feng Shui principles — harmonizing the practitioner's space with the natural spirit world. By invoking the authority of Yuanshi Tianzun (the Primordial Heavenly Worthy), it ensures orderly cooperation between the human and spirit realms.
