The Day Master (Day Stem) is the most important concept in BaZi. It refers to the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar, representing the person themselves. The Day Master's elemental attribute determines the basic framework for analysis. For example, a Jia Wood Day Master is like a great tree — upright and responsible; a Bing Fire Day Master is like the sun — warm, outgoing, and leadership-oriented. Analyzing the Day Master's strength and favorable/unfavorable elements is the first and most crucial step in BaZi interpretation.

Good luck with an ordinary chart can bring success; bad luck with an excellent chart can cause obstacles. Only by combining the natal chart with Luck Pillars can one fully grasp life's fortune.

BaZi can reveal life trends and patterns, but cannot precisely predict every specific event. It's more like a life map showing potential peaks, valleys, opportunities, and challenges. However, BaZi is not fatalistic — destiny is shaped by innate chart, luck cycles, personal effort, and environment. BaZi provides reference and guidance for making wiser life choices. As the ancient saying goes: 'First destiny, second luck, third Feng Shui, fourth accumulated virtue, fifth education.'
十二生肖是八字中地支的通俗表达。十二地支（子、丑、寅、卯、辰、巳、午、未、申、酉、戌、亥）分别对应十二种动物：鼠、牛、虎、兔、龙、蛇、马、羊、猴、鸡、狗、猪。年柱的地支就是你的生肖。虽然生肖只是八字中的一个字（年支），但它包含了丰富的文化内涵和象征意义。在八字命理中，年支还代表祖上宫，与家庭背景有关。生肖之间的刑冲合害关系也是八字分析的一部分，但仅凭生肖来判断命运过于简化。
The Chinese Zodiac is the popular expression of the Earthly Branches in BaZi. The twelve Branches correspond to twelve animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. The Year Branch is your zodiac sign. While only one character among eight, it carries rich cultural meaning and also represents the ancestral palace. Relationships between zodiac signs are part of BaZi analysis, but judging destiny by zodiac alone is an oversimplification.

The Ten Gods are ten categories describing the relationship between the Day Master and other characters: Bi Jian, Jie Cai (same kind); Shi Shen, Shang Guan (I generate); Zheng Cai, Pian Cai (I control); Zheng Guan, Qi Sha (controls me); Zheng Yin, Pian Yin (generates me). Each represents different life aspects — career, income, talent, pressure, and more. They are among the most important tools for precise BaZi analysis.
日主强弱是八字分析的核心指标之一。日主强（身强）指日干在命局中得到较多的生助（印星、比劫），力量充沛。判断日主强弱主要看三个因素：得令（日干在月支是否处于旺相）、得地（日干在其他地支是否有根）、得势（天干是否有印比帮扶）。日主强的人通常自信、独立、有主见，但也可能固执、自我。日主强不一定就好，关键看是否需要强。如果命局中财官食伤等需要日主去承担的力量较重，身强反而是优势。
Day Master strength is a core BaZi indicator. A strong Day Master receives abundant support from Seal and Peer stars. Three factors determine strength: timing (prosperous in the Month Branch), rooting (roots in other Branches), and support (Seals or Peers in Stems). Strength isn't inherently good — it depends on context. If the chart has heavy elements for the Day Master to bear, being strong is advantageous; an overly strong Day Master without regulation can be unfavorable.
喜用神（Favorable Elements）是八字中最能平衡命局、带来好运的五行元素。寻找喜用神的基本逻辑是「扶抑」：日主太强则需要抑制（用财、官、食伤来消耗），日主太弱则需要扶助（用印、比劫来生助）。此外还有调候（根据季节寒暖调和）和通关（化解两行交战）等特殊情况。找到喜用神后，在生活中可以有意识地选择有利于自己的方位、颜色、行业等。例如，喜火的人适合南方发展、从事与火相关的行业、多用红色暖色系。
Favorable Elements (Xi Yong Shen) best balance the BaZi chart and bring good fortune. The basic logic: if the Day Master is too strong, suppress it; if too weak, support it. Special cases include temperature regulation and conflict mediation. Once identified, favorable elements can guide choices in direction, colors, and industries. For example, Fire-favorable people benefit from the south, fire-related industries, and warm colors like red.
六十甲子（Sexagenary Cycle）是中国古代纪年、纪月、纪日、纪时的系统，由十天干和十二地支按固定顺序组合而成。天干有十个（甲乙丙丁戊己庚辛壬癸），地支有十二个（子丑寅卯辰巳午未申酉戌亥），最小公倍数为六十，故有六十种组合。每个组合由一个天干和一个地支组成，如甲子、乙丑、丙寅……依次循环。六十甲子是八字命理的基础，年柱、月柱、日柱、时柱都通过六十甲子来确定。六十年一个完整周期，故称「六十花甲」。

BaZi is not strict fatalism. It reveals innate conditions and potential trends, but destiny is not entirely fixed. Traditional Chinese philosophy holds that life is influenced by Ming (innate chart), Yun (luck cycles), Feng Shui, accumulated virtue, and education. BaZi provides 'factory settings' — your talents and potential — but choices at critical moments still depend on you. Good BaZi analysis helps people 'know destiny to change fortune.'

Ten God combinations indicate suitable types: strong Zheng Guan suits management; strong Qi Sha suits entrepreneurship; strong Shi Shen suits creative fields; strong Cai suits finance and business. Favorable elements indicate industries: Wood for education, Fire for electronics, Earth for real estate, Metal for finance, Water for logistics. Luck cycle changes also affect career fortune — seizing good timing is crucial.
