The Yi Jing teaches: "In safety, do not forget danger. In existence, do not forget destruction. In order, do not forget chaos."

Peace is not the absence of threat — it is the presence of preparation. The kingdom that rests on its prosperity is already declining.

Core Wisdom

The roof is repaired in sunshine. The army is trained in peace. The wise prepare for what has not yet come.

This teaching from the Yi Jing is the foundation of Chinese strategic foresight. It does not counsel paranoia — it counsels awareness. The three pairs (safety/danger, existence/destruction, order/chaos) represent the natural cycle of all things. To forget the dark side of the cycle is to be blindsided when it arrives.
