A Good Soldier Is Not Violent

A good soldier is not violent. A good fighter is not angry. A good winner is not vengeful. A good leader is humble. This is called the virtue of not competing. This is called the power of using people. This is called matching the ancient perfection.

善为士者不武;善战者不怒;善胜敌者不与;善用人者为之下。
是谓不争之德,是谓用人之力,是谓配天,古之极。
