The Mother of All
Wusheng Laomu (无生老母, "Eternal Unborn Venerable Mother") is the supreme creator goddess of Chinese folk religious sects — particularly the White Lotus (白莲教) tradition and related movements. She is the mother of all humanity, existing before the cosmos was formed, who created the universe and sent her children into the world.
According to sectarian scripture, she sent ninety-six亿 (960 million) original children from her paradise into the mortal world. They became lost in the dust of illusion, forgot their divine origin, and suffered through endless cycles of rebirth. Now she weeps, calling them home — and sending emanations (Buddhas, immortals, saints) to guide them back.

The Weeping Mother
The image of Wusheng Laomu weeping for her lost children is one of the most emotionally powerful in Chinese religion. She is not a distant cosmic principle but a grieving mother — desperately trying to recall children who have forgotten she exists. Her tears are the rain; her sighs are the wind. The entire cosmos is her lament.
含泪之母
无生老母为失散孩子哭泣的形象是中国宗教中最具情感力量的画面之一。她不是遥远的宇宙法则，而是一位悲痛的母亲——拼命呼唤已经忘记她存在的孩子。她的泪化为雨；她的叹息化为风。整个宇宙都是她的哀歌。
Legacy
Wusheng Laomu inspired some of the most revolutionary movements in Chinese history. The White Lotus sects that worshipped her often rose in rebellion against imperial authority — because if the Eternal Mother was the true ruler of the cosmos, then earthly emperors had no legitimate power. Her theology empowered the powerless: every peasant was a child of the supreme goddess.
