What Is Auspicious Date Selection

The folk art of choosing lucky days for weddings, moves, openings and life events — based on stems, branches, elements and almanac rules.

Overview

Chinese Auspicious Date Selection, known as Zé Jí (择吉) or "Choosing a Lucky Day," is a traditional folk custom that selects suitable lucky days and time points for important life events based on Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, Five Elements, zodiac taboos and traditional almanac (Huangli) rules.

The core idea is to seek harmony between time, personal birth fate and event attribute — avoid unlucky taboos, and pray for smooth development and good luck.
