— Zen purity
Annotation
'Not a speck of dust stained' comes from Sixth Patriarch Huineng's famous verse. Shenxiu said 'constantly wipe it clean, don't let dust collect' — gradual practice. Huineng said 'originally there is nothing — where can dust collect?' — sudden realization that the original nature is already pure. This became the classic expression of the gradual vs. sudden debate in Zen.
Modern Application
You don't need to frantically 'fix' yourself — your original nature is already pure. The deeper meaning is: instead of constantly fighting flaws, return to the original mind and recognize the self that was never flawed.
