— Buddhist concept of kalpa
Annotation
'Cannot escape one's karmic fate' comes from the Buddhist concept of 'kalpa' — vast cosmic cycles. In each kalpa, the world undergoes creation, preservation, destruction, and emptiness. Certain karmic results are unavoidable when 'fixed karma' has formed. But Buddhism also emphasizes that 'unfixed karma' can be transformed through practice.
Modern Application
Accept what cannot be changed, while working to change what can. 'Cannot escape one's fate' reminds us: some things are inevitable results of past actions — accept them, face them, then plant new good causes in the present.
