Annotation

Between heaven and earth is like a bellows — empty yet inexhaustible, the more it moves the more it produces. Too many words lead to exhaustion; better to keep to the center. 'Keeping the center' means maintaining inner emptiness and stillness.

Modern Application

Excessive words lead to errors; silence is better. The most powerful statements in meetings are brief and thoughtful. 'Keeping the center' preserves inner space for thoughts to naturally arise.
