"Qu shen qu tai" comes from Chapter 29 of the Daodejing. The sage removes extremes, luxury, and excess. Laozi teaches that the world is a sacred vessel that cannot be controlled by force. Excessive actions inevitably backfire; only by maintaining the middle way and avoiding extremes can one follow nature and achieve lasting stability.
