中医 — The Healing Art of Balance

Traditional Chinese Medicine (中医, Zhōng Yī) is one of the world's oldest continuously practiced medical systems, with roots stretching back over two thousand years to the foundational texts of the Huangdi Neijing (黄帝内经, Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine). Unlike Western medicine's focus on isolated symptoms and pathogens, TCM views the human body as a microcosm — a small universe governed by the same forces of Yin-Yang, Five Elements, and Qi flow that operate in the cosmos at large.

At its core, TCM seeks to restore and maintain harmony within the body's energetic system. Health is understood not as the mere absence of disease, but as a dynamic state of balance between opposing forces — heat and cold, excess and deficiency, interior and exterior. When these forces fall out of balance, illness arises. The physician's task is to read the body's signs — through pulse diagnosis, tongue examination, and careful observation — and restore equilibrium through acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, Qigong, and other practices.

The Nine Body Constitutions

TCM recognizes that each person is born with a unique constitutional tendency — a fundamental pattern of strengths and vulnerabilities that shapes their health throughout life. Modern TCM classification identifies nine constitution types, from the ideal Balanced (平和质) to eight biased types including Qi Deficiency, Yang Deficiency, Yin Deficiency, Phlegm-Dampness, Damp-Heat, Blood Stasis, Qi Stagnation, and Inherited Special Constitution.

Understanding your constitution type is the foundation of personalized wellness — it guides dietary choices, exercise habits, lifestyle adjustments, and seasonal health strategies tailored specifically to your body's needs.
