Annotation
'Even the stubborn stone nods' comes from the legendary story of Master Daosheng of the Eastern Jin dynasty. Expelled for teaching that 'even icchantika have Buddha-nature,' he preached the Nirvana Sutra to stones at Tiger Hill. When he asked if they agreed, the stones nodded. This expresses dharma's extraordinary power to transform — even insentient stones are moved.
