— Nirvana Sutra / Buddhist karma
Annotation
'Plant melons, get melons' is the most accessible metaphor for Buddhist karma. The seed you plant determines the harvest — there is a strict correspondence between action and result. Buddhism applies this to all areas: good causes bring good effects, evil causes bring evil effects. The law of karma is the foundation of Buddhist ethics and the fundamental law governing the universe.
