「种瓜得瓜」是佛教因果法则最通俗的比喻。种下瓜的种子就收获瓜，种下豆的种子就收获豆——行为与结果之间有着严格的对应关系。这不是外在的赏罚机制，而是宇宙自然法则的运作。佛教将这一法则应用于一切领域：善因结善果，恶因结恶果；布施得财富，持戒得安乐，忍辱得庄严。因果律是佛教伦理的基石，也是宇宙运行的根本法则。
'Plant melons, get melons' is the most accessible metaphor for Buddhist karma. The seed you plant determines the harvest — there is a strict correspondence between action and result.
