「子贡问：师与商也孰贤？子曰：师也过，商也不及。曰：然则师愈与？子曰：过犹不及。」 ——《论语·先进》

📖 释义 Annotation
「过犹不及」是孔子中庸思想的经典表达。子贡问：颛孙师和卜商谁更贤能？孔子说：颛孙师做得过头，卜商做得不够。子贡问：那颛孙师更好些？孔子回答：过头和不够一样不好。这个判断体现了中庸的核心——任何事情都有一个恰当的度，超过和不足都是偏差。
'Going too far is as bad as not going far enough' — Zigong asked which disciple was more worthy. Confucius said one goes too far, the other not far enough. Is going too far better? No — it's equally bad. This embodies the core of the mean — everything has an appropriate degree; excess and deficiency are both deviations.
