「名正言顺」出自孔子的「正名」思想。名分不正当,说话就不顺理;说话不顺理,事情就办不成。孔子认为,社会秩序的基础是「名实相符」——君要像君、臣要像臣、父要像父、子要像子。当每个人都能做到名实相符时,社会自然有序。这一思想后来被广泛应用——做事要有正当的名义和理由,才能服众。
'When names are correct, speech is sound' from Confucius's 'rectification of names.' When names are not correct, speech is not sound; when speech is not sound, affairs cannot succeed.
