「不可思议」出自《维摩诘经》，原指佛法的境界深广微妙，超越了凡夫的思维和言说所能企及的范围。「思」是思维，「议」是言说——佛法的究竟真理既不能用思维去揣度，也不能用语言去描述。《维摩诘经》中，维摩居士以「不可思议」的法门震撼了所有菩萨和声闻弟子，展现了在家居士也能通达甚深佛理的典范。
'Inconceivable' comes from the Vimalakirti Sutra, originally describing the dharma's realm as so profound and subtle that it transcends ordinary thought and speech. In the sutra, the layman Vimalakirti astounded all bodhisattvas and disciples with his inconceivable dharma gate.
