Yī qiè jiē kōng
All is emptiness

Original Text

— Diamond Sutra (Vajracchedika Prajnaparamita)

Annotation

'All is emptiness' derives from the Diamond Sutra's famous 'six comparisons' verse: all conditioned phenomena are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, like dew and lightning. This does not mean the world doesn't exist, but that it lacks permanent, unchanging substance.

Modern Application

When you cling to an outcome or identity, remember 'like a dream, an illusion' — everything changes, nothing is permanent. This is not pessimism but freedom: because all is emptiness, you have infinite possibility.
