📜 Poetry

The spring has gone —
who can hold it?
The summer wind stirs the curtain.
无可奈何春去也,且将樱笋饯春归

🎋 Traditional Customs

Weighing people (称人) — in southern China, people are weighed at Lixia to check health. Gaining weight is good; losing weight means you need to eat more in summer.

🍽️ Food & Recipe

Lixia eggs (立夏蛋) — eggs boiled with tea and eaten to build strength for the hot months ahead. Children wear egg necklaces.

🍳 Tea Eggs (茶叶蛋)

Hard-boil eggs, gently crack the shells, simmer in black tea, star anise, soy sauce, and cinnamon for 2 hours. The marbled pattern is beautiful.

🧘 Wellness & 养生

The heart is the focus — it governs summer in TCM. Eat bitter foods (bitter melon, lotus seed) to clear heat. Avoid excessive joy (the emotion of the Heart).

🌍 Cross-Cultural Connections

Marks the beginning of the 'heat season' much like Beltane (May 1) in Celtic tradition. Both cultures celebrate the transition to warmth with fire and feasting.
